Scripture: John 8:12
I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
We’re living in a time where so many stories are filled with tragedy—mass shootings, wars abroad, violence in our own communities. It can feel overwhelming. It can feel dark. Especially when the tragedy strikes someone we love and or respect, like Charlie Kirk who I saw was like John the Baptist of our time, calling the young generation to repent, to turn back to God.
But darkness has never had the final say. Jesus declared Himself the light of the world, and when His light shines, darkness must retreat. We, the church, are called to carry that light into every dark place—our schools, workplaces, neighborhoods, and homes. We can be inspired by CK, but it is Jesus we follow. CK sought to be like Christ, to be courageous to speak out in our dark culture. But it is the Lord who gave us the Light. The world needs the Gospel of Jesus Christ all the more!!
Current events remind us daily that people are hungry for hope, desperate for peace, and searching for meaning. The church of Jesus Christ is God’s answer: to be a city on a hill that cannot be hidden.
Reminder: Let’s not curse the darkness—let’s light our candles and let people see. Share a kind word, pray for someone hurting, extend grace to a neighbor. In these small ways, let our Light of Christ break through.
