Scripture: Colossians 2:6–7 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
When you look at a tree during hurricane season, one thing becomes clear: the trees that survive are the ones with the deepest roots. The same is true for our faith. If our walk with Jesus is shallow, every storm of doubt, disappointment, or difficulty threatens to knock us down. But when our roots grow deep in Him, we stand firm.
Discipleship is the process of growing those roots. It’s more than just showing up on Sunday—it’s about daily walking with Christ, learning His Word, praying with persistence, and living in community with other believers. Our world is constantly shifting, and current events remind us that we can’t afford a casual faith. We need faith that grows strong.
Discipleship is not optional; it’s vital. Jesus didn’t call us to just “believe” in Him—He called us to follow Him. And following means growth, transformation, and sometimes pruning. But the result is a life that produces fruit for God’s glory.
Consider these Questions:
-
What steps am I currently taking to grow deeper in my faith?
-
Who is helping disciple me—and who am I discipling?
-
Where do I see God calling me to grow next?
Let’s commit as a church not just to be believers, but disciples—Rooted in the Word, Empowered by His Spirit, and Living in Grace.
